#1 Let’s make it easy for them to return to our site

Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, two things really stop this, one is that the domain name is hard to remember. Now you can try to make it easier by selecting a good, easy domain name that’s easy to remember, but it’s getting harder and harder because a lot of good domain names are already taken. Or you can make sure you license programs that already have good domain names which some licensing programs do. All you really need is a phrase that someone can remember. A test that we use is if you can leave the website name on an answering machine and people would be able to still understand it, then it’s o.k. Thus, we can call up someone and say, “Hey, come on out to BigLeaguePlayersClub.com” and chances are they’re going to spell that right and they’re going to be able to get there, even though that’s kind of a long domain name. Another site we have is called killercopywriting.com, and another site is called instantprofits.com. All of these can be said to someone over the phone and they can remember it.

Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, the other thing is visitors don’t bookmark your site and so what you can do is put a button on your site that says, “Hey, do you want to bookmark this site?” That’s what a lot of people will do and you can put a little script in there that will cause them to open up theiravorites area of their browser. The fact of the matter is most people never go back to sites that they bookmark unless they are frequent sites that they visit all the time, such as maybe a merchant account site or a password protected site. But just general sites that they bookmark, research has shown that they just never go back to them.

Now, not having anything in place to gather information that can then be used to encourage them to come back, well we can solve this by starting right from the get-go to try to collect or try to get the visitors to volunteer information.  Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, it’s so important to get them back that you need to begin this right away. So, we need to get them, at the minimum, to leave their email address. Next, it would be nice if they left their first name so we can merge that in emails we send to them.

Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, in almost all Internet businesses, the email is the most important item to gather because of these four reasons. One is email is extremely inexpensive. There is no printing and postage or phone calls or faxing. You can go out to thousands and thousands of people for next to nothing.

#2 Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, you can reach large numbers of subscribers without using spam since they actually have given you their email address and they’re on your list.

#3 Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, you can remind them to come back to your site and you can also offer other products and services right in those emails or ezines, as you’ve learned in one of our other companion books.

#4 Your website is just sitting there and it’s waiting for visitors, so you need to do something. According to Jeff Paul in Shortcut to Internet Millions, you need to drive traffic there with search engines or with joint ventures. But with email, it doesn’t just sit there, it actually goes out to your potential visitors and takes the message right to their inbox instead of like the website, it waits for them to go there and read the message.

According to Jeff Paul in Shortcut to Internet Millions, you have to understand that prospects are very busy and they’re doing a lot of other things. So if you leave it up to them to come back to your website, it ain’t going to happen.

So you need to invite them to come back. According to Jeff Paul in Shortcut to Internet Millions, you need to invite them to leave their email address and that way you are basically telling them, “Hey, I am going to be contacting you again.” And then you’ll have a much better chance of getting them to come back to your site or getting them to perform some kind of action. And don’t attempt to get their information in just one area.
