How To Create The Perfect Signature File

1.According to Shortcut to Internet Millions, Jeff Paul says you want your signature file to really reach out and grab your prospect or your reader or your customer by the throat, and get them to look at it. You can use all caps, but you should only do this at the beginning of the signature file with maybe just the opening word so that it stands out and looks like a headline. You don’t want to use all caps for the whole thing.

2.In Shortcut to Internet Millions, Jeff Paul says you want to target your signature file with the proper words. You might say, “Attention Horseback Riders”, and then don’t worry about catching the attention of people that aren’t interested in your subject, because if you don’t target then you are going to be wasting your efforts. It’s better to reach 100 people that really want what you’re talking about, then 10,000 people where none of them want what you’re talking about.

3.Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, give away something free in your signature file. This can really boost your response and it should be something that has a high perceived value, but it doesn’t cost you much. A free report or a free e-book oftentimes is a great freebie to give away.

4.In Shortcut to Internet Millions, Jeff Paul says you want to tell your prospects what’s in it for them. In other words, whatever you might be asking them to do, you want to tell them why they should do it. You don’t need to get involved in details of what they’re going to get, but you need to give them one big benefit.

5. Jeff Paul says in Shortcut to Internet Millions, whatever you want them to do or whatever you are asking them to do, make it easy for them to do it. Remember, they’ve got a lot of things on their mind and the easier you make things for them, the higher your response rate will be. So, you might give them an Internet address to go to. You might give them an auto-responder to send an email to. You might give them an email address to write to. You might give them a fax number to send something to, or a toll-free number.

6. In Shortcut to Internet Millions ,Jeff Paul says to put a border around your signature file, like we’ve in our example and make it stand out from the rest of the message

7. According to Shortcut to Internet Millions,Jeff Paul says avoid creating pictures out of your characters on your keyboard, in other words, don’t use the letters O, L and K to build a nice little picture, because by the time it gets sent to people it will show up differently in their email program. Common practice is to create little logos out of the characters on the keyboard and type it into an email. The fact of the matter is it usually shows up all jumbled, so you really should avoid using what’s called “ASCII art” in your SIG files.

8. In Shortcut to Internet Millions Jeff Paul says the final item is test different versions of your SIG files. Send your ezine out one month with one SIG file, send it out another month with a different SIG file, or better yet, send out your ezine one month and send out half of it using one SIG file and the other half using a different SIG file. See if either of those SIG files draws more attention.
